Rankings Dropped Dramatically - Any ideas why?

Hey all -- having some major issues with SEO... only in google, not in other search engines. We used to be very highly ranked on specific terms (page 1) and recently dropped dramatically. We are SEO friendly and fully optimized... I didn't know why all the sudden we dropped to page 5 or 6. We launched our new site in October but were fine after that -- do you think that is causing this? For example "mini dv tape" was #4 and now we're on page 4. tapeonline.com. Any ideas, thoughts you have would be great. Thanks.

It's hard to say without more information about the site. If your site is, in fact, well optimized on-page, then your drop would probably point to one (or maybe both) of two culprits:

1) Links. Your competitors have added new links but you haven't.
2) Content. Same deal.

I suppose it's also possible that your drop is a fluke having to do with some reshuffling that G seems to be doing at the moment. But I'd investigate the link and content stuff to be safe. Additionally, it could also be that your new or existing links aren't as valuable as they used to be, or as your competitors' links.

I'm guessing it's about www.tape0nline.c0m </url obfuscated to avoid this forum thread turning up for searches for the domain>

FYI

I would just advice you to wait for a few days it might be just a fluctuation but if it isn't then start building the links with the text you want to rank for.

Yes, you should follow two things. First, emphesize more on the anchor text with which you are working to achieve the serp while asking for reciprocal links.. Second, get back links to your site from web sites with higher pr. But dont use any techniques that Google considers it to be spamming. Follow the process sincerely and have faith on Google algorithm. You will certainly get back the SERP ranking.
