    Ranking Flash Site

Hey guys, has anyone here ever successfully ranked a web site written in flash. I have a client who is only willing to make minimal changes to his site.

I am wondering how much additional work needs to be done to rank a site like that and if it is worth the effort.

www.2advanced.com has 777 links showing in google and almost 25000 in yahoo and they don't seem to be on the first page for any terms besides their company name. I think it's VERY tough to rank a flash site.

    Ideas with Flash

I havent been able to successfully get good ratings for sites primarily done in Flash.

Could you use CSS to "hide" text in the html file that has the Flash embedded in it?

Setting the display:none for a block of text. Would this be considerd a bad thing to do in Google's eyes?
It wouldnt be a doorway page or cloaking I wouldnt think.

I think you would get banned for that if they found out. Not sure exactly what they would call it, but that's definitely spamming.

Yeh, I know a lot of those little tricks and don't want to take my chances.

So I was wondering if there was ANY natural way of acquiring some rankings.

So far I have not found a flash site having any major rankings out there.

Advanced access is such a joke. I can't believe how many realtors fall for their scam, they even post all of their advertisings on their clients' pages.

We service some of their former clients, the ones who woke up.

Anyways, if anyone has a guideline worth trying to rank a flash site, please let us know !

The link that I posted wasn't to advanced access, it was to 2advanced, a well known flash design studio that I would expect to be #1 for a lot of phrases if their site wasn't done in flash.

whoops, sorry. I heard advanced access so much, the name is implanted in my head. But I did notice that http://www.polardesign.com comes up first page for "flash design" with a flash intro page.

2advanced is a great flash site that should be alot higher rating wise. Ranking with flash is going to be a difficult feat you should definatly avoid at all costs. Go so far as to change flash pieces into gifs or javascript at the very least.

There is not much you can do for a flash site. That's why I stay away from them when desiging a website for my clients (until G figure our a way to properly index a Flash website). Looking at the site, the only suggestion I can make is to put their keywords in the title tag. At the moment it reads: 2advanced Studios [Prophecy] so there is room for a better title description with keywords in it.

What are they after really? High ranking or more sales? If they are after sales (and money) then what about advertising with the PPC search engines? After all, if they are as good as they claimed, they should be making money and hence have money to spend on marketing.

Apparantly they don't need to. I heard of them many times before as well.

Alot of sites that are created in Flash (especially web design companies) get most of their clientele from word of mouth, advertising, referrals and NOT Google. I'd rather show what my design skills are with Flash than how well I rank.

    The website sells itself ;)

true, optimization and ranking is helpful but not everything. Quality + some exposure + customer service = clients for life

I know i mentioned setting the display to hide, but what about setting a block of text indented to a -1000em.

it is technically still there, it just cant be seen on the screen. I have seen a lot of sites do this to create a better spiderable version of their site. Not really for flash only sites.

    Still Spam?
