Question for the pros...

First of all, to the guy who created this forum, good job this will be an awesome resource for most webmasters. I hope that you'll be able to get some sort of commercial payout out of this as well for the work you are doing.

My question is this: My site , www.420palace.com , is not ranked very well for the main term which is "glass pipes". I've been working with a friend who knows lots about google to increase ranking, but I am watching the google dance and it's only moving up from number 25 to number 23, because 2 sites got deleted for spamming. Is there a chance that my site will still move up higher or is the dance pretty much over for the month? Could any one take a second to look over my site (or just homepage) and let me know what could be dragging me down? Thanks a lot! Alex

perhaps adding text relative to your products, that also contains keywords that pertain to your products will help to boost you to a higher ranking

i did go and look at your site, adding more keywords to it without being in a format that makes some sence will get yuo booted for spamming, add a block of text somewhere on your page that describes your site, and in that text have keywords that are relavent, so your ratio of keywords to text is a little lower but still higher than other sites that have the same product...

some suggestions

Hi,

First what keywords are you targeting that you're listed #23? It appears that you're either targeting "Glass Pipes and Water Pipes Holiday" or "Glass Pipes, Water Pipes, 420palace.com" but I'm not sure.

I'd recommend putting your target keyword phrase on every page with a hyperlink attached pointing back to your index.html page. Better use of your H1 tag would also help.

Good luck.

Hi,
I am mainly targeting the keyword "glass pipes" and like you said I have a link that says "Glass Pipes Home" on every page linking back to the index page. Anything else I can do? Thanks

Quick question...

If I have to click the agree button on your home page to get in, does that also mean that the google spider can't get to the rest of your site?

It's a static text link - so the bot would be able to find it ok, don't see a problem here.

Nice site by the way - Interesting topic

Here is my 2 cents

Remove all of the keywords in your meta content that aren't actually being specifically targetted on that page... only list the keywords that you are truly targetting for that page.

Link to your css file from your page opposed to listing it in the code directly as you do know.. perhaps rename it to glass-pipes.css as well.

Add title tags to your links using keywords as well within the description of the links.

The meta descripton - make the keyword the first in the sentence.

The meta title tag - I'd add the word glass at least one more time.... (glass bongs, glass bubblers, etc).

You can also put title tags in your head tags (ie: <h1 title=.glass bongs for sale at 420palace.com.>) (Replace the .'s for " marks)

I'd also convert all of your font face changes within the HTML to css files - you can either restyle the head tags or just make special selectors for the text ie: .large-green-text the span tag.

Good luck!!! I'm anxiously awaiting the end of this dance (though it's just begun) as my site is #1 for my keyword term on the www2 and www3 servers and 2 of the other databases

Well 420,

You'll asked for expert advice and that's what you'll get. After looking over your tags I've discovered a few things were noting.

In your keywords you've mentioned "Bongs x 4 times", "Glass x 14 times", and "Pipes x 5 times. I'd suggest you cut them down to one each. Some people believe that having the same word in two seperate sentences are different. But in fact, each search engine is different. If it was yahoo's direct submit, I'd say ya, that's okay....but Google and some of the indexing spider engines may frown on it. You only have to mention the word once in your keywords for google. If you have several different pipes made of glass, just say "glass" and then all the different pipes. Your indexing of metatags should only be designed to gain full optimization through google. Forget the other search engines. They suck and most of the ones who want to servive are turning to google for support.

Secondly, once you have chosen the keywords that you want to use without the dupes, use complete and compact sentences using those keywords between 3 and 7 times each in the body of your website. If you use them less then 3 times, google and other similar spiders wont find the words relevant and rate them as low. If you mention them more than 7 times, they will consider it spam.

The trick is to use complete but compact sentences using your keywords within those boundaries. Go to Google and type in "Search Engine Buddy". You'll find this software very easy to use and extremely helpful. I think you can download a free demo. The demo works 100%.

The little things matter too. Make sure the words that you think are most important come up first on your website content. If you think the words Glass and Pipes are the most important keywords, then you better figure out how you're going to mention them atleast 2 times in the first paragraph. And make sure you put your keywords in your metatags in order of importance too.

Also, your title tag should be utilized for it's full potential. Take out the spaces and add "Bongs" and maybe something else that fits.

Now, two more very important things. Your keywords were too long but once you take out the dupes.....that will be okay. But your description is also way too long. It shouldn't be greater than 175 characters. That includes spaces. Right now your description is running 225 characters and your keywords are at 489 characters. You're well above the limits of physics....hehe.

Another key component is to make sure you have reciprical links. I know you always hear it and you think you can do without, but trust me, you get a few good ones and it makes a huge difference.

If you have any other questions or if anyone else out there does let me know.
