Question A question about 301 or what to do

Quick question - I have a page (homepage) ranks on first page of google for my chosen keywords.

I decided to make a blog about a year ago:
    (same URL ie.www.mywebsite.com/blog) ..
did some reciprocal links...got some high quality one way inbounds also to this blog page.

This blog page now ranks on second page of google for my chosen keywords.

The blog however does not get so much traffic. Im thinking what is the best way to move forward.

If i did a 301 redirect to my homepage form the blogpage would I get all the link juice from my blog going to my homepage (and hopefully push it up to top 3)

    OR

continue with my blog and hope it also gets to first page on google.

    What would you do?

You need to have the correct keywords in the anchor text pointing to your blog, for your ranks to be pushed up for the terms you want to rank for.

301 redirecting your blog to your home page will give the home page a boost.

If your blog is on the second page you might only need a little more effort to get it ontot he first page and then you will occupy 20% of the first page instead of 10%.

Its a judgement call as what to do.

I would continue with the blog. The Link Juice it receives passes to your homepage though its an additional level. Also, your blog may be there temporarily due to a particularly relevant article so see if it stays that way for the long term.

I would go for getting them both on the first page. Redirecting your blog doesnt make sense unless you want to completely dispose of it forever. Check your stats over the time you have had the blog, see how many visitors it gets you.
