    Problems Ranking a Website

    Hey all,

I am having issues ranking the website: Homes for Sale in Gardner KS

This is a sub domain of a much larger site, but I though initially that it would help me get it ranked faster and that doesn't appear to be the case.

I think most of my problems stem from the fact that each page that is on the site has to be approved by their corp office and takes a couple days to approve. This has made my normal process much more difficult.

Any thoughts on how to rank a site like this? Anyone got some great results for similar (agent) type sites?

I would edit your post and remove the url. It will rank high in the SERPs. Do you want management reading what you wrote?

Edited the URL. They have so many agents that I doubt they are monitoring everyone that closely.

First of sub-domains are treated like totally new websites in the eyes of Google and you will not get any favors from your authority site just because it's a sub domain.

Also what kind of link building have you done?

    check your site meta tag
    and be careful about content.

It's more difficult to do my normal link building because I cannot actively update the website to do link exchanges which is one of the important link building strategies. I have had to revert to directories, social bookmarking, social media, and blog commenting.

With Penguin reportedly filtering such links... you may have quite a task ahead of you.

What about developing some link bait to attract one-way links?

Link exchanges were devalued a long time ago... and the other strategies that you mentioned were hit hard by a google change that was implemented last week. Lots of people have lost rankings sitewide. Some for several websites that support their business.

After that people started 3-way link exchange which is very challenging these days as webmasters become much conscious about the linking.

Fixing duplicate content is quite easy but Removing free/light links from the resources like comments, articles, directories, bookmarking etc are tends to impossible in most of the cases. Hence if Google won't remove filter; affected website won't be recovered itself imo.

@op, you should include Google+ in your link-building strategy till Google supports this. Like nofollow and link exchange this might be devalued in future.

Yes this is true that sub domain will rank faster but the only thing keep in mind that one have to follow the search engine algorithms guidelines. If he/she do it ,definitely their website rank high in SE's.

    Ahh...

Do you have any reference link to prove what you are claiming?

    fyr... sub-domain won't get root domain's benefit.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I usually don't have many issues with ranking websites, but this one has been more difficult for some reason.
