Press Release advice for UK

We put out quite a few newsworthy press releases each month, getting good offline and online coverage. However these are not submitted to any online press release sites, just the traditional routes. We get quite a bit of coverage but the online coverage does not usually contain a link and if it does it is usually just the URL.

I would like to use these releases to help generate some links with relevant anchor text. There are plenty of US based services which look good an offer this, however I am wondering how much coverage I would get with the press releases being UK specific, naturally they say you can target countries but I suspect most of the sites they feature on will be US based.
Does anyone have any experience of submitting UK stories to sites link PRWeb and PRLeap?

Also if anyone knows of any other worthwhile UK based sites I would like to know!

Captain,

Certainly it is effective to distribute your Press release on International PR sites. You are right when saying that most of them are US based, However they accept news from UK and it gets distributed to UK media (freelancers, printmedia and web) . On top of it you get valuable backlinks.

Here are a few good PR sites in the UK.
