pr = page rank? I have found that pr is related to crawl rate, but I may be wrong. Crawl rate:
From the Google webmaster tools ( http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/) you can ask for your required speed. - This depends on your website, I have some where all the crawl rates are selectable and some where only one rate is selectable. Ultimately All search engines decide their own crawl rate and is very much dependant on the traffic volume and frequency of your content updates.
You also have the option in your sitemap xml file to specify your own importance ranking and your update frequency. Have a look at http://www.sitemaps.org/ for more info.

Hope this helps you

I think quarterly they adjust the algorithms which might cause drastic changes in PR. Otherwise the PR is updated as an ongoing process.

PR (PageRank) is a term specific to google.

The moral of the story: You may buy a domain tht has PR6, but this is the rank that existed 3 months before! Next month it could be PR 0

Hi,

You should not even bother with the Page Rank.... it has nothing or lil to do with rankings.... Concentrate all your energies building good relevant content and hunt for good links. and by links i mean having link from relevant authority sites. Try to have 1-way links since they give more power on rankings!!!!!!

PR, meta description and keywords tags are just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo useless.......

PR still very important for ranking. To get a link from a PR7 it is a success for any SEO

It is true that you have to put some efforts on content and I do not know what you mean by good link or relevant authority?

PR are not that useless, meta description still very important because usually shows on SERP as the description of your link and keyword can help you on social networks

In the SEO world every little thing counts

PR7 links are just good for PR but you need LINKS AND GOOD CONTENT to rank on search engines.... dont tell me that PR helps rank on yahoo or msn EPIC FAIL!!!!!!

Go read thread about PR, PR is just a indication of links you have to your website.

I felt the need to correct you on a few points with your post...

PR (page rank) has little value when determining the SERPs. Google values links coming from highly relevant sites and from sites that are considered "authority" in the respective area. This means that if you have a site about "kitchen tables" a link from a video game website would have lesser value than say a site dealing with kitchen furniture.

It is more that just true. It is a MUST. Great content can give you highly relevant links which turns into higher SERPs, which turns into more traffic. See above for an explanation on "good" links and "authority". Also, try a search on these boards here, you will find PLENTY of great posts by some of the members here.

PR is not overly important for actual ranks in Google and the meta description is not used in the SERP calculation at all.

PR is not at all important for ranking. Getting a PR 7 link is not always a SEO success.

Quality and relevant links mean links from quality and relevant sites. PR is not factor in that case.

You are talking about snippet here. Some people says that description tag can help you to generate a good snippet.

But, Google shows the most relevant part of the content of a site with the search term as the snippet. It can be description, can not be.

When you put good content in your website submit your content in SB sites and authority website in relevant category if your content is very rich then you get automatically link back for your website.

Yes if your website has no content then put small description in your website because it may improve clickability your website but it doesn’t improve your website ranking but I think in that case we have to expending our time for writing good content because Google shows in description most relevant content related to search.

In this forum it always says that PR is NOT important. Which is not true. If I get a link from a PR7 usually is a quality link and my ranking is always affected in a positive way

Between these quality sites if one has a PR0 and the other has PR7 I think that the choice is clear. In addition to it to define a site as a quality site PR plays a very important role

Quality and relevant links mean links from quality and relevant sites. PR is not factor in that case.

Base on my experience there is a high posibility that my description shows on SERP. Therefore I take this tag very seriouly because I have 2 lines to promote my products and make the user click on my site

You are absolutely right. I am sorry in this point. I just use it as a reference for social tag although you are right has not impact whatsoever in ranking

The point that I try to make is that PR is not esential although still very important and I battle anyone to discuss this point with facts

When Google judge a link it verify:
1. Relevancy of the page from where the link is coming from.

2. Quality of the page (not PR, Google consider whether the page is trust worthy in that particular sector)

3. Anchor Text that has been used

When you are getting a link from a PR 7 page, it is not necessary that the page should have a high quality. Because any kind of links (both relevant and irrelevant) are responsible for PR.

Before judge the PR Google see whether it is relevant to your subject or not.

Back link from a irrelevant high PR site, only bring PR and visitors for your site. No search engine benefit at all.

If you have the option to chose one from the 2 links, where both the site are relevant , but one with PR0 and another one with PR7, then 2nd one is good. The reason is it is relevant and with good PR. Relevancy count first.

Suppose you are targeting 3 keywords for a page. You have the highly relevant content to support all three. Now in description you are able to put 2, 3rd word is missing.

Now if only description is shown as snippet, then will the snippet attractive in the search result when visitors will search the 3rd term? I think not.

In that case Google will take the most relevant textual content part of your page which is highly relevant with the 3rd term.

Hope I am clear with fact.
