Position of content in html
Hello. I'm wondering if the position of main content within the HTML of a page will make any difference to keyword ranking?
Looking at my site's HTML, you have to scroll though the header and then a long list of in-site links in the left sidebar before you get to the content. Does Google pay more attention to keywords that are higher up in the page's html, or am I worrying too much?
Many thanks in advance!

It certainly used to be an issue and many believe that it still makes a difference.
Why not move your menu further down in the code (using css/positioning to keep it displayed at the top of the page) then let us know if/how it affects your rankings?

Im still a fan of having your most important keyword/s as high up in the content as possible

I also think it makes difference. Google can read whole website each content and each page except no follow links. So it could be play an important role in SERP listing.

If it is your most important keyword you signify its importance by placing it in your H1 and then down the level of importance.
