Pointers on new seo adventure

First of all like to say thanks for the creators of this forum. I have visited here many times for tips but I just recently registered and this is my first thread. Anyway...

I am fairly new (newbie) to SEO and have only worked on a couple of small sites and did a mighty fine job. But I have recently taken on a task of attempting to optimize a very large site at doulbeU x3 lvssales dot com. When I was contacted by them they informed that they had a strong top 10 listing in google until about a month ago. I am not the slickest of SEO engineers and cant quite locate what may have caused there home page to drop off. I have managed to get them back up on the likes of yahoo and ask. They have also vanished off MSN. Feel free to take a gander at the site and any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I am currently working on restructuring link pages and inbound links.

thanks in advance.

forgot to mention there keyword goal

The main keywords for this site are 'golf cart parts' & 'golf car parts.' To me it is pretty well optimized according to my limited knowledge and site is a pretty good site. Although it is an xcart site the previous SEO team that worked on the site was at least smart enough to do away with the xcart standard landing page and generated a more user and crawler friendly page.

this
Code:
LVS Golf Cart Parts Home

should be
Code:
Golf Cart Parts

and the link should drop the index.html, ie be hard coded to http://www.url.com/

you also need to gain some external links

Lots of other things but those two are major imo.

That code is anchor text for a link returning to the home page. No, that link does not need to be on that page being that the page is already the home page but it is there to keep the apperance flow of the site as whole.

I do agree with removing the index.html. Ty for that, I did not notice it.

BTW, how fast is your nova? I have an 83 dodge ram that runs in low 7's 1/8 mile. A lot of fun!

Are they paying you strictly for SEO or to make their site work better? I would have a look at their google analytics and see what their bounce rate is like as well as how long the average visit is. I would also check their conversion goals and see what % of visitors make a purchase.

To me the site looks very amateur which I am sure is hurting their conversion rate. This would also make others in the industry less likely to link to the site naturally.

In my mind a big part of the SEO they are missing out on is their site looks like it was made 5 - 10 years ago. This gives a lower quality impression which hurts their conversion rate and link popularity.

Double check the site for spam as listed in the Google webmaster quality guidelines. Looks like a spam related problem.

Make sure you are checking it correctly, and inform in this forum your problems in checking so that we can assist.

They are paying me for SEO and assist in generating higher conversions/purchases. This companies main business is supplying products wholesale being as they are a manufacturing company of there products but also dable in the retail side and wonder why for so many years they have always had good appearance in search engines but not nearly as many sales as some of there retail competitors although in most cases there cost are half of others... There main concern is the sudden disappearance from google and MSN.

After checking they have an average of 62% bounce rate and an average of 3.26 page views and on the PPC a CTR of 9.89% with a conversion of 2.98%. The 2.98% is acceptable but the CTR should be much higher of course thus increasing the other.

I agree with the unprofessional appearance or at least it no longer looks professional as to what it is capable of looking like but by no mean are they paying me enough to redesign the visual structure of there site. The site is several thousand pages deep.

Doing a site: URL search on google results in showing the site indeed indexed and logging to the webmaster tools it shows now apparent blocks/bans. I was thinking a spam issue as well but if it was a spam issue would it not ban or block the domain as a whole?

I think you are maybe missing the point. That is a sitewide link from the sites own header telling the search engines that you want to be ranked for "SVL Glof Cart Parts Home" or even "SVL Glof Cart Parts" when you really want to known for.... "Glof Cart Parts"

ty once again mr nova.

even after reading your last reply I did not understand what you were trying to point out when you say page header I automatically jump to the assumption of header tag and of course this is not the case. Me and my always coding brain. But i did do as suggested.

Sometimes when you spend so much damn time on a site you tend get stupid and overlook things.
