Partnering with developers on SEO & social media?
Hi everyone - this is my first time here, so forgive me if this post doesn't belong.
I've been doing SEO & social media consulting for four years, and recently I had two different web design firms approach me about being their in-house consultant for their clients. I do the marketing work for their clients as a contractor, and they make money on the top.
They expressed to me that they didn't want to do the SEO work because they'd rather focus their business on delivering high quality designs, and didn't have expertise to do SEO at a proficient level.
It's worked out very well so far, and I realized that there are probably more developers in similar situations. Who else would you ask besides your web developer, right?
Anyway, I've got enough room in my schedule that I could make a similar arrangement with a couple more developers if it was a good fit. I'm relatively new to freelancing (I worked at an agency before), so I figured I might as well come to a place like this and see how the developer community sees a situation like this, and what the best way is of helping out.
If this post belongs in another thread or somewhere else, then please point me in the right direction.

In house as a contractor? Regardless, I have no problem with hosting companies and web site design firms hiring us out. My rate stays the same, client just pays a little more so dev can get a piece of the action.
One thing I require though is contact with end client. Anytime I have to go through a marketing firm, or any middle person, things seem to slow way down.

Since this isn't a job board and you can't really advertise in the forum... this is a bad fit.
Ziff Davis Enterprises is really very good with matching banner advertisements up for you.
Post lots of great information to earn respect and maybe customers will seek you out... but they won't if you never post 'useful SEO or social media tips'.
Best bet try web design boards for web designers in need of SEO assistance but again I wouldn't just directly solicit... it'll get you banned pretty quickly.

Fathom, I think you're right.
I did start by posting to a couple of other threads after I posted my question. I do want to give back to the community - I believe adding value is the best way to generate business.
I'll hang around here for a bit, get to know some people, and see what shakes out. Thanks to you and KernelPanic for responding.
