Lightbulb Panda 4.0 Update from Google

    Hi Guys,

Matt Cutts has announced that Panda 4.0 update rolling out today. This is a major update rather than a refresh.

Did you guys see any changes in your rankings or search results?

    Cheers,

The most recent Panda updates have rolled out over a 10 day period. I'm not expecting most sites will experience noticeable change in rankings so suddenly, though I will be monitoring. It would behoove everyone to do a more thorough analysis at the end of next week.

A good (but very early & speculative) initial study can be found at Panda 4.0, Payday Loan 2.0 & eBay's Very Bad Day - Moz. From the comments, those most heavily affected could be because of "cross-domains duplication issues" but like Adam said, its all just guessing at this point. It's definitely a big update though, as SearchEngineLand said "Google told us that Panda 4.0 affects different languages to different degrees. In English for example, the impact is ~7.5% of queries that are affected to a degree that a regular user might notice."

I mainly track LOCAL results. And the top of the 7 pack is controlled by the organic ranking order.

So I would think I'd be seeing more flux. Was hoping some of the spammy local results would drop, but I'm not seeing much change so far.

And the Local Weather Report isn't showing much of a shift. A little bump yesterday. So we'll have to wait and see what today looks like.

Our traffic has been affected. It went up before the update and slipped down after. The values right now are 10-20% lower than the previous metrics. We usually get good traffic on Tuesdays and right now it has slipped compared to Monday's traffic. Am still not sure how much of an effect the update can do on our site as I believe it can take days before this whole Google dance settles. I read someone said 72 hours, another one claimed 4-5 days, and the above share mentions a 10-day period. I'll watch traffic closely til the end of the week then.
