Pages Indexed Issue. Please help w/ suggestions
Ok here is my situation and it is happening on alot of the items on a site.
After we add products, I usually check google to see if its been indexed a few days later. We are having alot of key products that alot of people dont sell not showing up in a google search, but when I type in site:i-supplements.com "item", it will show up and my item page will be the first link of relevancy. I will then do a search on google and the item name may be on the 4th page with a with a lesser relevancy link/page i.e the section the item is actually will show up, not the paticular item page itself. Here is an example of what I am talking about. If you type in site:i-supplements.com hemogen 50 here is the url for that: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=site%3Ai-supplements.com+hemogen+50 My item page is the first link showing. But if you do a regular search on google Hemogen 50, the first link you find for our site is on the 5th page and its the page the actual product is in. That is actually the 3rd link down when you do the site:i-supplements.com hemogen 50. I am completely confused on why this is happening and would hope somebody here would know why this happening and what to do, since it makes absolutely no sense. I also want to mention we had custom SEO package done about 4 months ago and had alot of issues with the company. There were several things they were suppose to do and didn't, etc.. Could they have messed up coding or put coding in there they werent suppose to like a no follow link or something. I appreciate any info you could provide me with. Thanks!! |

I checked the Google link you provided and the first 3 results that show up are hemogen50.html, hemogenreview.html and anandpr1.html.
At a glance, the reason for that seems to be the amount of links pointing to each page. According to Yahoo!, hemogen50.html has 3 links pointing to it, hemogenreview.html has 1 link pointing to it and anandpr1.html has 190 links pointing to it.

Ok, now I have alot of items in that url anandpr1.html that has 190 links pointing to it. Most of those item pages arent showing up in google searches, would that be the reason? If that is the case should I trim down the amount of links directed to the url, to help that rankings on my items pages? I hope I understood everything you said correctly. Thanks |

Umm I think its not a thing u could ever control, specifically when it comes to triming down the links..
And IMHO, even if u r some what successfull to trim down links to your own, it wouldnt help in anyway. Infact links comprise the basics of ranks and SERPS.. It should be rather more of links attaining kind of thing and not to cut them down. The more relevant links point to the page, more would be its trust and page rank, and highger it would come up in SERPS..

No, I wouldn't do that, rather I'd improve my internal navigation so that the page(s) you want to rank for that term get more backlinks having your targetted keyword(s) as anchors. |

That's some pretty stiff competition. I don't know what kind of control you have with Yahoo stores...so ignore me if I'm being stupid.
But you might gain a bit by optimizing some in page stuff and your title. For example your title "Discount Hemogen 50 Pharma Resources - Similar to Halodrol - $59.99 - i-SupplementsŪ" I would change to "Discount Hemogen 50 Pharma- Similar to Halodrol" its shorter and way more relevant, especially for a product page. Then you might consider making this "Hemogen 50 Pharma Resources - Similar to Halodrol" and H1 tag. When you have a 2 part product name it's more effective to use a dash between the parts in the url so like hemogen-50.html. Most engines will most likely grab the keyword out on highly searched terms, but not all...So make sure you get credit for it by separating it. Lastly, you have done a good job using anchor text throughout the page, but it might be more effictive if it was a little more natural by using variations and maybe somewhat longer phrases. hope this helps some, really is some tough competition for your terms. --Melanie |
