'Pages from the UK' - Search Volumes
Hi,

We are currently having issues with a number of clients not appearing in Google.co.uk 'Pages from the UK' search results.

I understand that this is a caused by having a site hosted in a country outside the UK.


What I need to know is how many search queries they are missing out on.

Does anyone have figures for different search volumes on Google.co.uk 'The Web' and 'Pages from the UK'.

I need to determine whether it is worth moving these sites to be hosted in the UK, or just covering off the main keyphrases with PPC.

Your thoughts please!

If you want to set up a prefered geographical location its simple. Sign up for google webmaster tools and change the settings.

It can take a couple of months to see a change.

And will this mean that sites hosted abroad will appear in 'Pages from the UK' search results?

Sorry I dont, but going back to your origional question. I had a simlar problem. My site was hosted in the states and I wanted to show in google.co.uk


It took a couple of months but now I rank much higher in .uk and lower in .com

How has this effected your traffic from Google? Is it your experience that people actually click the 'Pages from UK' button?

I suppose it could also depend on type of website/business

If you want to be listed in UK results.

Get a UK host
Get links from .co.uk sites (ones that are related to your website topic)
Set your Geo location in Google Webmaster Tools
Add a UK postal address to the footer and/or contact us of your website.
List your business in Google Local.
Ensure you use UK spelling and grammar throughout your content.
If your services are focused on a specific county in is also important to include the county/relevant town also.
