Page Speed, of course it's a ranking element

As many have said, page speed certainly is a ranking element. Google officially will roll it out this summer but most pros know it has been testing on various servers for quite a while

It's not about keywords any longer people! Give your audience a great experience and you will be rewarded,

    Cough Cough
Lost track of the amount of arguments I have had on here regarding page speed. At least google have finally come out and said its been a ranking factor on desktop for a while now.

Wonder how long it will be before the question is asked, "my site is faster than theirs so why am I below them"

Somehow even though its now official I dont think some people will get it and just become speed junkies.

Well put that to rest. I still haven't seen it make a difference yet, but it is apparently going to be a Google factor to deal with.

    I have many times,
Its been like it for a while that sites that are really slow dont rank as well, I honestly dont think you get a boost if your fast its more of a case you wont be held back.

I was seeing it in August. I don't know how anyone who does SEO could not have seen it before now.

It's not all about keywords any longer! (how many times do we have to say it lol)

I didn't think it was ever in discussion, I thought everybody was already in agreement??

Seems like common sense to me, I mean if a page takes 8 seconds to load - it's evident that it's not a quality page for users, and they don't deserve to be in a good position in the SERPS. I do believe there's a threshold though. I doubt a page which loads in 1 second will have an advantage over a page which loads in 1.5 seconds for example.

New load speed ranking announcement from Google.

17 Jan 2018: The Google Speed Update: Page speed will become a ranking factor in mobile search

Google: "it will only impact a small percentage of queries..."

It looks like G's mobile index will use much the same web page ranking parameters as the current desktop algo. i.e. A negative penalty for very slow sites.

Just to be clear, SEO folks who actually do this for a living saw it happening long ago.

Barry Schwartz Editor of Search Engine Land & SE Round Table (since Dec 2003) seems to believe Google enough to promulgate the info on both his SEO news sites.

Oh, did you see he also posted these follow-up questions:

But, perhaps Schwartz is just a Google flunky...

    Oh, oh...

Do we have another Google flunky?

I think I even recall a G spokesperson talking about her.

How many similar reports do we need before we can claim a Google conspiracy?
