Question Page listing URLs: which way better?

    Hello,

I would like to ask SEO professionals about page listing URL types.

Let me clear up what I mean.

We have a page http://www.pokernews.info/homepokergames where results should be listed to pages 1, 2, 3 etc. Which way is the best for URL structure?

    #1. homepokergames/homegames-1.html
    #2. homepokergames/homegames/1
    #3. homepokergames/homegames?p=1

Maybe there are other ways more beloved by Google?

And "id" as query string parameter (page.php?id=1)

I know that all three variants are accepted by Google, but which one is better in optimization terms?

#1 is the most user friendly, but for Google, there's nothing wrong with #2 or #3 with these warnings:

For #3, Google doesn't like query strings, but one or two short query strings are OK, as long as they are not used for user or session IDs (i.e., they lead to real, distinct content).

#2 is also OK. You hear that Google doesn't like deep subdirectories, but that's not true. What Google really doesn't like is several "hops" to get to a deep webpage. For example, link A to A/B to A/B/C to A/B/C/D. If you link A/B/C/D directly from A or A/B, that's OK (for both faster crawling and more PR).

My suggestion is to replace the "1" (document ID) with a real string that can be queried in a database. For example, use
    homepokergames/homegames/popcorn
    instead of
    homepokergames/homegames/1

LOL - here's proof that SC forum pages with keywords on them show up on Google's SERP #1....

Hi kkiely - hope you were not too concerned

Your live link will probably be edited out by the mods - I fear - unless you do it yourself.
