Optimizing locally

This is my first SEO attempt for a Psychiatrist. He is a friend, and i am working pro-bono. He is based in manhattan and specializes in treatment of ADD, ADHD and Bipolar disorders. Some sample keywords we would buy on google adwords:

Psychiatrist New York City
Psychiatrist NYC
Psychiatrist Manhattan
Psychiatrist NYC ADD

etc.

There are also the different permutations, starting with the city instead of psychiatrist, etc.

How do I factor the local component into the SEO of the pages? Should I optimize just for Psychiatrist, ADD, ADHD, and Pipolar, and leave the local factor to having the doctor's address on each of the pages?

Help!

Put the NYC, New York City and other location keywords in the title tags. Make sure don't put all the location keywords in one page's title tag. Spread them out, otherwise, they will water down each other.

You absolutely need to have location keywords on your pages. Title tag is the most important place.

Think about

1. Who is your online market
2. What would they type into a search engine
3. Remember SEM is at least as important and probably more important than SEO.

You website shouyld be a selling point to your service. The potential client must be convinced that your organisation is the right choice for them. Always remebr your competator is only 2 clicks away.

Write for the client. Think of the other marketing you do ie referals from other practicioners and how your page may than be the first stop for a potential customer. What does that customer want to see.

Having said tyhat the more geographically speicifc words you are targeting the easy (less competative) it is.

I suugest do some market reseacch on the industry first.

Good luck
