Optimising for sub phrases within phrases

Just started optimising a site and I'm finding that there are a large number of terms with a similar amount of traffic.

In some cases there are phrases within phrases:

    Australian Holidays - 35000 impressions
    Australia Holiday - 50000 impressions

Australia Hoilday gets more impressions but is it worth optimising for Australian Holidays as it contains both?

Or is it just worth containing it within the body of the text on the page to beef up the density?

Work on both if it makes sense for your site/page. I take it holidays in Australia is your general target? So make both keywords work for you if that's whats going to get you the visitor your aiming for.

From a customer perspective however it's a little confusing. Are you saying:
    - Have multiple versions of the page
    - Then use the core term on the main area of the site
    - Supplement with links to the variations in the footer to build up internal links

I wouldn't know mate, I have never worked on a holiday site before so I dont know the best layout or structure but you defo dont want multiple versions of any page, as that would be duplicate content.

Check how your competitors are doing it and see what you can come up with for your site plan and structure, then come back to see what people think of your ideas.
