Old pages still appearing in Google

I have an old website which keeps appearing in google search results. I have replaced the content of my old website but the old pages keep appearing.

Also, I have submitted fresh keywords in my meta tags but Google keeps reaching my site with the old keywords.

    What can be done?

You can also 301 redirect the old pages to the new ones so you can at least pass some value to the new pages and you'll avoid 404 errors. Google will also remove the old pages from the index and replace them with the new ones so your new pages will index faster. If you just delete the pages from your server you'll lose all the work that went into those pages.

Here is a tutorial on 301 redirects: http://www.tamingthebeast.net/articles3/spiders-301-redirect.htm
