Old domain name still shows up.
I have a problem with my old domain name still showing up on google.
if you search: suwanee sports academy you get two urls. http://www.suwaneesportsacademy.com/(OLD) and http://www.ssasports.com I currently have www.suwaneesportsacademy redirecting to www.ssasports.com. I dont want suwaneesportsacademy.com showing up on google anymore, but still want www.ssasports.com. how do i get it to stop. THANKS! Last edited by berryonline : July 14th, 2006 at 02:41 PM. |

I get an error when attempting to check the server headers on your old domain.
What type of redirect did you use and is the site still up?

It was misspelled in one of the references that I copied/pasted. At any rate there is no redirect... the site resolves just fine. Do a 301 redirect (permanantly moved) from the old to the new.

I did the 301 using the .htacess file and for whatever reason my page rank went from a 4 to a 3 on ssasports.com BUT my suwaneesportsacademy.com domain is now a 4. I deleted the file, but will my page rank go back to the way it was. Did i do something wrong. Here is what the .htaccess file lookED like.

Try this in your .htaccess on the swaneesports....
Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule (.*) http://www.ssasports.com/$1 [R=301,L] You may contact your host to ensure that mod rewrite is enabled. |

ISAPI Rewrite is what you want, or something equivalent. Best to talk to your hosting provider and see what's available.

Can you explain what that does, maybe a little about it.

If you have quick communication with your host, they may do it for you. They know thier system best.
...and don't worry about page rank until after you fix that, if at all.
