OK I have a question...
I have a number of sites on two servers, in two locations.
I have just recently come accross SEO stuff, and so in my first month removed a load of bad (very bad) spammy stuff that I had accross many sites. The second month I noticed that my PR's had gone down from mainly 2's and a couple of 3's and some 1's to mainly 0's and 1's... Have my domains been banned, and if so How do I check Does Google ban a domain and or IP when it sees Spammy stuff?? Do I need to apply for a new IP (some new IP's) if I have been banned. Another thing is when Google sees near linking (i.e. links from a different domain on the same server) how does it see it, is it an IP thing (i.e. the IP that the domain is pointing to) or a DNS IP thing (i.e. the IP's of the DNS servers running the domain. How does this effect my sites hosted on a popular host, are all links from sites on their servers seen as near, as they all share NS1 NS2 servers? Also if I ran DNS on my server would I recieve more benifit from the sites linking to me from others servers hosted on that network. Hope that this makes sense

Just to clarify, there are 2 ways in which you can receive a penalty:
1. A complete ban - your site is simply deleted from the Google index. You site cannot be found on Google at all. 2. The PR0 Penalty - This is where you simply get a PR0, which makes it almost impossible to rank well. This is the much more common penalty. If you have gone down to a PR0, then I'm gonna say you have PR0. I don't think I have ever see a good clean site have a PR0, even when it has ZERO inbound links. So if you're see a PR0, you most likely got the PR0 penalty, although you say you have some 1's. Thats basically a PR0 to be honest. So it's not accurate to say you've been banned, but in my opinon, you have received a PR0 penalty, which is proabably just as bad, if not worse. As for the DNS well I don't think anyone out there can say for sure how Google uses IP information when looking at links, but if you had 2 sites linking to each other on the same server, you're probably fine, but if you had 100 sites that were all interlinked, then you will most likely be slapped with a PR0 penalty. I'm not big-up on the whole DNS thing, I've not had too much time to play about whith those, so I'll leave that question to someone else who will be more able to handle it!!

Well thanks for your comments...
Am I totally stuffed now, or can I make changes and get up to a decent PR again? What's the story on getting back in the index? - Do I have to offer sexual favours to the guys at google, or does it happern automatically if I simply start again with those sites, (redesign the pages, and such, but keep them on the same domain / IP / Server) Thanks Robin |
