No follow importance?

I was wondering how important it is to specify all of the links on my website to be "nofollow" for the ones that I don't want to pass "juice" to?

I have lots of links so if it is not worthwhile i wont do anything. But if that helps the site, i definitely can make time for it.

is it worthwhile to set all the links to "follow" or "nofollow"?

what are you talking about?

and why would you link to someone that you would not "vote" for?

I would not send my customers/visitors to anyone that I did not trust. I mean really ,,,, good businesses dont do that.

Go into your mechanic, and he says "you also need some body work ,,,, but we dont do it"

You then say,,,"wheres a body shop at" He will not say "there is a body shop on hwy 27" He is going to say,,, "floyds body shop talk to Jim,,, they do good work"

I think you misunderstood my question. I'm not talking about linking to people that I dont trust. This also could apply to internal pages that I dont want google to find "as important" as another page.

I downloaded the SEOmoz toolbar and started browsing sites with the "nofollow" button turned on. lots of the links on SEO sites I was looking at had "no follow" on the links. Is this to help loose link juice?

Pass me the juice!

Google does not want to make an internal nofollow pagesculpting a factor in SERPS.

They don't want to give out higher rankings to webpages that employed some pagerank sculpter vs solid webpages who never used the nofollow-tag at all for internal links. You can't outengineer a google engineer.

Only use it to do dump blog or forum linkspam. You can't go wrong with a no no followed website. There was and still is no limit!

Pagesculpting is not the golden apple of SEO, but for very large industry sites. You can do it by other means. Do those privacy policy pages and disclaimer, really need to be plain html linked from every popular article on your site? How about creating one link for those, it makes sense for many websites. How about putting all company information on a subdomain and linking to it. That 1 strong repeated link might even give you nice double listings.

They may not want to and they're figuring out ways to eliminate it, but fact is they still use nofollow as part of the PR process. How big it is is unknown.

How does this impact internal linking? Quite simple, and the rules haven't changed since day 1.

Create clear and concise navigation for users making all information easily accessible.

To reduce the PR 'bleed' from a page to other internal pages you have to clean up your navigation. No more sitewide links to lazy pages. Tighten up your on site navigation and you'll have more PR to pass around to pages that matter.

I agree, and I think you can calculate that nofollow indeed does play a process. What my views are is that, eventhough nofollow might play a factor on PR, there are dampening factors in place that recognize PR-sculpting and heavy use of internal nofollow. Trying to make it work in your favour, will probably not work - so far the outsmarting Google part.

Your point that follows is also my point. Rather use less links than more links (some of which are nofollowed). You can control the flow of energy in pages in a very minimalistic way, without ever using nofollow, but creating a concise structure and removing any unneccessary link (or javascripting it).
