Hai,
I created a blog couple a month back, and on the day ma blog got indexed i used to recieve around minimum 50 results on google search results per day, but on 14-july-2008 the nightmare started thats when i wanted to add meta keywords to ma blog so i added the meta description and keywords and it was on that day google crawled ma homepage and since that day i am loosing momentum on search results to say since that day i am recieving max 5 results per day on google search, even though i am not recieving visits on web search reults i am getting visits on images which i have added the alternative kewords.. if ma blog is indexed to image search reults why not in web seach reults... Finally tried all what i can do, i removed the meta keywords and let google pick ma keywords through ma page content and there were a lot of outbound hyperlinks from ma site so than i removed that too... finally i am out if ideas, what could be the problem, truly i am confused guys... please help me, i am just lost |

Hi Ravager,
Meta KW's and meta-desc will do nothing at all to improve your Google rankings (although it doesn't necessarily follow that misuse of them wouldn't hurt your rankings)! New sites often seem to get a bit of an "artificial boost" in Google rankings, which means that they drop after a while (towards their "natural position")... It could be that which is causing your problem and the timing (coinciding with your meta changes) could simply be a coincidence. In addition, many industries see a huge drop in traffic from Mid-July because of seasonal changes... You don't mention your KW rankings at all - how do they compare (for the terms that were giving you the most traffic)? Google images is often way easier to rank in than the main results (because the level of competition is much lower). Removing outbound links is only really going to help if you were linking to "bad neighbourhood sites" (with "followed" links); other than that it certainly won't improve your rankings. In fact - many SEO's believe that links to trustworthy related sites can improve your rankings with G.
