New Website not performing as well as I would have hoped

    Hi SEO Experts,

I have been optimising a website www.blackpool-hotels.org.uk. But due to the limited level of access I have to their website I can not amend alt tags, meta-tags and about 90 pages on their site (the individual hotel pages).

This is making optimisation a little hard. we are currently on the second page of google for 'Blackpool Hotels' I would be extremely grateful for any suggestions on ways to get around the limit access, is there anything else I could really concentrate on?

I have made minor copy amends and am currently link building.

    Thank You in advance

Why if you get change their pages to conduct onpage optimisation then your only other option is to conduct a rigourous offpage campaign by getting links here, there and everywhere.

When I take on new clients, I have it in my terms of services (legally binding) that i must have access to FTP and also have the ability to change pages (with minimin visual impact of course)

Why you would agree to a job like this is beyond me, particularly in a very competitive industry such as tourism

tell them to give you access or forget about it. Why would a company wish you to optimise and not let you optimise. like going to the dentist and saying 'ya can do whatever you like just dont put anything in my mouth!!'

I assume the issue is that the 90 pages are generated by some CMS. As long as you can optimise the title and content for each, then not having the ability to change meta-tags or alt tags won't really be an issue. Plus Google rankings are much more driven by off-page rather than on-page factors, so concentrating on your linking strategy is probably the best use of your time.

agreed wit john tha meta or alt wont do much but you do need and should have access to optimize the actually content of the page, perhaps by bolding, linking internal between related pages with keyword rich words, h1, h2 etc. Difficult enough to optimize for 90 pages, are these hotels all in really touristy areas or are perhaps a few less known. You'd want to concentrate your in coming links on the toughest markets.

    thanks to all

    Hi Again,

I just wanted to say thanks for some good advice as I was a little stumped.

Due to your help and a great deal of link building we are now on the first page of google, which is more than I had hoped for with our limited access.

    Thank You!

hmmm... a week did this? Probably not. Nonetheless just keep a steady pace on content and links and you'll be fine.
