New site was indexed and now it's not - is this normal?

I have never actually watched to see what happens with a new site once you get it some links...

I kept doing site:domain.com searches and finally 2 days ago I saw my site... but now it's gone when I search like that.

Is this normal during the first week of a new site?

?

I think there is only one thing to say about questions like these, be patient ...

It takes some days, and you're visible.

Some people call this the sandbox
Wait and continue building links and it should reappear
As long as you haven't been doing any blackhat which could get your site banned you should be okay

Perfectly normal. When you saw your site in the index you were likely accessing a different datacentre than when you later couldn't see it.

After a little while your site should be present in all Google's datacentres.

Yes very normal. Jagnet hit the nail on the head I think. Your not listed in all the datacentres yet.
