Question New SEO Techniques after Penguin Update?

    Hello Guys,
I have noticed that several sites (with quality content and quality backlinks) has been hit by latest google penguin update, Which left me astounded and doubtful about google's need for better search engine ranking. Please suggest guys what should be the prime focus area now to gain high search engine ranking?

    Thanks,
    Lo Green

I've been so busy lately I'm a bit ignorant on the latest news, what quality sites have been hit?.

Edit> I got unlazy and googled it and did some reading.

All you can do is try and follow googles quality guidelines and hope yours isn't one that is wrongly hit

I, and I believe EGOL, only follow two rules that makes us almost impervious to the thrashing about of Google:

    1. Provide excellent best of class content
    2. Develop and implement a backlink strategy that attracts excellent best of class backlinks; sometimes that takes link bait.

Is there anything I am missing?

Whatever system google or other search engine update. We should not be worried if we don't act like spam. I do not have any problem. It is the concern of spammers, using black hat. Anyway, It is essential to know & be in safe side, i mean working with patient, not to be hurry. I have been working SEO for long time. None of my clients get hurt for my SEO activity, they are doing just fine, may be a bit slow improvement But Always good.

Yep - I agree. My e-commerce site has gone up 4 spots in the last month, due to some heavyweights above that just dropped like flies on a hot summer day. The ones that remain above me now will be easier to overtake because at least they don't seem to have unfair advantage.

I'll be curious to see if the sites that dropped will return to their prior positions any time soon. Google appears to be serious about this change.

I'd advise anyone who was NOT impacted in a negative way this month to take advantage of the vacuum, and double-up on their efforts while the other guys are struggling to recover their prior positions. Maybe us guys who followed the rules will crowd out the cheaters this time.

Thanks a lot for suggestions guys
I am noticing a sense of favoritism in google search result. Google is favoring big brands.
Example : you can see many IMDB movie pages on the first page for generic one word keywords (most competitive keywords )

According to Google, If your site lost ranking around 4-24 and later it's a good chance you've been hit by the new Penguin algorithm that rolled out a few days ago. The Penguin algorithms objective is targeting webspam, which includes, Little, poor or duplicate content, Hidden text, Keyword stuffing, Clocking, Link spam and schemes.

Take a look at the issues above, correct the problems then send Google and request for re-inclusion by going to your Webmaster Tools

    Good luck and Happy Ranking.

Mine too hit with the penguin Update

Mine was hit by the penguin update the other day.I'm beginning to dislike cute animals like panda and penguin.Anyways,it must have been some glitches in the algorithm and with the proper new seo tools and techniques,my site will be back on the track again.

Looks like google has made these changes to algorithim to increase their PPC revenues. As most of the websites is taking help from SEO companies to increase their google rankings to come on page first. Now those companies instead of paying SEO companies will pay to google to run PPC campaigns and increase their wallet. This will certainly increase increase revenue of google and hence profit. Good chance to buy google shares.

But if I look at from end user perspective, Users will now see only those websites on first page which has maximum hits and liked by community. But now users have to browse through pages to see companies of their interest and this will increase work for them. So happy googling.
