Need some advice in our SEO

Hi.. this is my first time here...

I am currently working on in (mylonglife(dot)com) it is an anti-aging website..

We do have good articles but you cannot view it without signing up in our newsletter. My question is thus GOOGLE crawl our pages since you need to log in before you can view the article?

Is this site is SEO friendly?

and also how can I drive traffic to this kind of site..

Thanks

Apparently, Google does index your articles. For example, I clicked on this article link on your home page - China's Anti-Aging Revolution. It did require me to sign up to your newsletter but I got to the page anyway, without an account by searching for it on Google. Here: http://www.mylonglife.com/articles/...-Revolution.htm

So in reality, I don't need to sign up to your newsletter to read your articles, and Google does index them. Now, let's say someone sees one of your articles ranked in the SERPs, and clicks through to your site; they read the article and leave. The next time they come back to your site, they're going to be really confused when they find that all the articles are suddenly "members-only." Most people won't likely find this annoying (they'll subscribe) but many probably will. You should either stop forcing people to sign up to your newsletter, or hide all the articles better from non-subscribers. I suggest the former.

I look at quite a lot of research based articles where you often have to be signed in to an account which can often require payment to view articles.

The presentats a problem to sites that want to get found but still want people to pay to view their content.

How do you get around this?
Set up the site to require authentification and sign up for evey user agent other than Googlebot and other specific search engine spiders and specific IP addresses.

It doesn't stop people changing their user agent on their system or viewing the cache but it is a good compromise that will work for all but the most vigilant of searchers.

Another thing to do is allow the abstract of an article to be crawled thus getting the message and keyword out there and spidered to be found but users would still need to sign in and or pay to view the full article.

Pacific Monk agrees: Great advice.

As always, stats can show you where any problems lie.

There is no point having lots of great content if no one can view it.

Maybe a policy re think is required.

There are certainly ways around this.

One thing I would suggest is not to opt for in inferrior solution and have your work sufffer because of a clients reluctance to do what you suggested. That always ends up bad!
