Need Some Advice On Domain Ping and effect of SEO??

if you ping me site www. warmfloorsonline.com it times out because the server my site is on is behind a shared firewall, i have been advised by an SEO consulatant that spiders need to be able to ping it, the thing is i rank in the top 10 on most engines except G but i am making good progress, my site is indexed regularly, so does it/or will it have any effect on my serps?

I would be surprised if spiders perform an actual ping to determine site responsiveness for 2 reasons:

1): Lots of servers block ping requests.

2): Ping only determines the network latency between the point of the request and the server.

The response time of the actual website is more what the spider will be interested in, and it will work this out by timing page request latency.
