Multiple Pages

Hi Folks,

I was just wondering, at the start i was told that i shoudl aim to optimise my site a different keyword on every page sort of thing.

Now the main thing on Google is backlinks; do i need backlinks to every page or does the index page help the other pages?

The best would be if you would have links to every single site with the keywords in the anchor text which you optimised for.

Links to internal pages are always helpful. They so to speak tell Google that not only the domain is interesting, but that this particular page is of interest. The anchor texts of these deep links are very important, of course.

Links to the homepage also help the other pages, because when a link of strength 100 (just an example) links to your homepage, then all pages that your homepage links to will get a share of it. A page that shows all product categories and which is linked to from your homepage might get 12 points out of that link to the homepage.
The link juice is distributed throughout the network of pages of your site. The closer page a is to a page that gets a link, the more link juice it gets. That's why a good internal linking structure is so important.
Hope that helps!

Do link building for internal pages also along with home pages, with page specific anchor text.

Sure.. The more your pages will come in top SERPS, the more will be your website traffic.

The more the traffic is, The more will be the sales/conversions. To achieve that you need to optimize the important pages of the sites as well.

You have to project initially, as to which page will attract traffic, suppose you have a website selling sattelite TV's, Perhaps a page dedicated to Various Models of those boxes will get traffic, And a page that has special offers can catch public attention.

If such pages show up in SERPS, you can have a high conversion ratio which can be done by getting backlinks for the inner pages like all above have said..

However, if you have something nice on the homepage that you believe can attract many, then Homepage optimization only can be good enuff as long as conversions are good..but like its said, when the surface area increases, its difficult to light up with a small matchstick..

I think that most people think that linking is top priority. Having links to all the pages on your site cannot hurt your rankings that is for sure. This is also a way for you to optimize based on different keywords for your site. So it is really a win-win situation. I just don't know how good or bad it would be to have links to different pages on your site from one place. Maybe that can help, maybe it will not.

The only thing I would like to add on to those good advice above is that not just pay attention to the backlinks from other sites, you should also pay attention to your sitemap, internal linking structure, and navigation from page to page. This will increase your chance of getting every page indexed by search engines.

Well at present i have it all under the home page and i have about and contact us level as a parent page.

becuase what i want is say for my home page is to bring in my main keywords like "bookkeeping" "accounting" then on my payroll page i obviously want "payroll" "outsourcing payroll" and so on to where i won't have to cram so much in one page i'd rather spread the keywords over the next few pages.

What i see a problem is, it is very hard for me to get backlinks anyway so getting backlinks to my home page will be what i want and i'll just have to hope google picks up on everything else.

Here is my site www aceaccounts co.nz

a few of the pages are empty at the moment and there is some switching around with some words but home, about us, contact us and cash book are done.
