Meta description and keyword size

Everywhere I keep seeing max number of characters for the desc meta tag should be between 200-250 and no more that 20 keywords.

Well, a couple of weeks ago I added more text to my desc tag, which is now 328 chrs and my keywords are now up to 35 (I know keywords are not recognized).
Googlebot last accessed my home page on 5 May and there are no errors in my webmaster account.
So this must be a myth as google doesn't seem to mind and the SERP's do not appear to have had any adverse affect either.

My only concern now is that other SE's like yahoo may not like this many keywords.

Can anyone shed any light?

I dont think any of the major search engines, precisely i am talking about the top 3 as nothing seems to be major compared to them (though google tops them all), gives any attention to something as worthless as a keyword meta tag.
