Many Pages Not Found by Google, etc

For some reason, Google is nly displaying a few of the 100+ pages on my site - (URL address blocked: See forum rules) . Why would this be? When performing a search for (URL address blocked: See forum rules), Googl is only displaying 4 of my pages. Any help would be appreciated.

how old is your site? It could be that you do not have enough links to be fully indexed. PM me your url and I'll post it

They have 78 pages indexed according to Google (site:www.yoursite.com)

Google show no backlinks and Yahoo show only 3 (from a total of 2 sites).

You need more backlinks, to get that number of pages indexed... preferably some deep links too.

You have some canonical issues (your site can be accessed with and without the "www").
You can fix this with .htaccess like this:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^olighting.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.olighting.com/$1 [R=301,L]

You also should change your internal links to aim at domain.com/ rather than domain.com/index.html

In addition you have a couple of metatags on your home page (Desc' and KW's) but they have no closing tags or content!
If you're not gonna use them you should delete them.

ClickyB is correct.

I haven't seen your site, but if you're making changes, go ahead and double-check that the page size is under 32k and the content is positioned as close to the top of the page as possible.

Navigational aspects are also a consideration, as is Google's buffer. You may just need to give it time to se the results. If your site is new or is a redesign then this is normal.

There are several other "tweaks" but try what ClickyB suggested first, wait 7-10 days (or the next time you see the googlebot has hit your site via your logfiles), then come back.

I don't want to suggest too much because Google is acting funny on over-optimisation right now.

This is the first time Ive ever posted on this forum and am amazed at the generous advice Ive received so quickly. Thanks to all who responded. To recap, I will ask our developer to make the following changes:

a. apply "RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^olighting.com
RewriteRule (.*) (URL address blocked: See forum rules) [R=301,L]" so as to prevent access to the site without "www"

b. change intrnal links to point to domain/com/ rather than domain.com/index.html

c. correct the meta tags on my home page (i.e. either include closing tags, or simply delete the entire meta tag).

d. ensure pages are <32kb and that text is as close to the top as possible.

Couple of more questions...
a. What are some good sources/approaches to backlinks and deeplinks?
b. How long does it typically take to get the site reviewed by DMOZ? And how important is acceptance to the sites ranking?
