Major Fluctuations. New update?

It appears that a new update is happening as we speak. I wa reading about it at webmaster world
http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3615693.htm

The "Dewey Update". I have noticed some good changes for my sites, starting as soon as 3 weeks ago. Anybody else seeing anything?

BTW sorry if this was posted elsewhere but havent seen it here at seo chat yet

I have seen some pretty major changes in the areas I monitor with some big name players getting hit, and serps that have been stable for months now being shifted about.

Given all that though I read the thread you showed and Matt Cutts comments in it that there is nothing going on.. so who knows what is or is not happening!

I have only seen the usual flux on the SERPs I watch. No real significant changes. I would of thought if major changes where under way this board would have lit up like a xmas tree...

Over the past week (not really long enough to be certain of changes),

More pages out of supplemental - Another 200 went into main index. Slightly down on traffic though in the past couple of days (That's strange isnt it to get more listed pages but less traffic). No real change in positions for keywords.

Good catch my friend, I had actually pulled the info from Search Engine Land the other day: http://searchengineland.com/080402-090926.php

I'd already read it this morning but thanks for the rep!

There is definitely something going on though. I've spotted quite a few odd things with the index and fluctating changes in pages indexed and results on every refresh of the page - every couple of seconds - let alone on a daily basis. Big G seems to have been very unstable for the past few weeks.

I don't think it is an update I think someone at Google has made a booboo.

Not that i like criticising others but i just re-read the webmaster world forum and they donot seem to think that it is strange that no one else anywhere is talking about the "major new update"..... IMO SEOchat rocks as memebrs here seem so much more willing to question statements rather then jump on the bandwagon....

Thought I'd attach a couple of screenshots - I would have thought that Amazon and SEOChat should show for their own domains. They aren't in this datacentre anywhere by the looks of it.

Don't know about Update Dewey - this is more of a Google Gremlin - think I'll call him Norman

Something is definitely going on and has been for at least a week. I've been getting a ton of www5.google.com results for about a week like this one:
http://www5.google.com/search?q=internet+engineer

Listings are pretty consistent here, besides a few sites getting tons of new ones, but that's not unusual either (since I'm actively doing stuff ;-) )
