Long URLs a Problem?

Is this URL considered a problem for SEO, as in being too long?

exampledomain/news/000-key-word-of-there-and-here/

Thanks in advance!

The deeper the page in your site the less chance of getting seen by a bot - make sure you have a site map which will reach deep into your pages to assist the bots in locating your content. The length of the url is not going to be a deterrent - do attempt to make your urls relevant to the content but having all the content in the url isn't recommended.

I have seen a lot of blog and forum sites that have long and deep url's. As long as you create links for spiders to follow and reach these long url's, it is not a problem.

The example you shown in your first post isn't problematic but it the URL was very long as compared to your example the page could be put into the supplemental index.

The "length" in characters is unimportant and so in the depth in folders... if it is naviable from root to destination page is a few clicks you will be fine.

The only thing you need to worry about are multiple params in urls - but if none - no sweat.

How many parameters in this URL?:

http://dir.yahoo.com/Regional/Countries/Portugal/Districts_and_Regions/Porto/Cities/Porto/Travel_and_Transportation/Lodging/

Are many parameters really a problem?

There are no parameters in that example. Parameters come after a ? sign.

That url is just a folder structure with a lot of layers. In practice those might not be physical folders, but instead could be interpreted as parameters by the web host, but that doesn't matter from Google's perspective.
