long page names with hyphens, a problem?

    Hi everybody,

I was wondering if any of you saw ranking problems for long page names(URLs) with many hyphens or have you seen them ranking very well?

I am talking about something like this:
    http://www.mydomainname.com/what-is-search-engine-optimization-forum.php
will that URL face problems interms of top ranking because its so long?

Will it be a problem if we have 5 or 6 hyphens(-) ??

Would like to hear your experiences.

    Thanks,
    Vamsi Gangavalli.

I work for a SEO company and daily make pages with similar urls. This hasnt been a problem at all, our pages are getting ranked highly regardless. Hyphens in my experience are seen as spaces. Our urls are similar in length.

Long page names with hyphens are NO problem at all. I have seen such pages ranking well and getting indexed without any trouble in all search engines. And yes hyphens are supposed to be word separators.

Long file names with hyphens also work well for me.

But I've heard theories that having a domain-name-like-this-for-keyword-purposes.tld many incur some form of penalty.
