Local Business list & Yahoo UK Local
I'm 2nd from the top of my chosen keywords which is great however the google local business list always comes up before the organic search.
I'm now trying to get to the top of that. However I'm not sure where to start with the local business listing. I'm number 6 at the momement. Number 1 space also has number 1 on yahoo local business listings. Does google use yahoo local listings for the UK? |

It goes on Post Code proximity to the centre of your chosen town.
Nowt you can do unless perhaps register a company address in the middle of town? My local business listing has disappeared recently - anybody know how to get it back? No contacts or owt to be found?

Hmm
How is that measured? Postcode/Zip?
I am in Aberdeen my post code starts with AB15, maybe if I changed it to AB10 which is central. I read that proximity does not matter too much now?? 8. Proximity to location Not too long ago, this was a prime factor in many local search algorithms. A local search SERP used to show listings based on proximity by default. That’s not the case anymore, but for any location-based search, it still has to play some part in the algorithm." smallbusinesssem dot com/10-likely-elements-of-googles-local-search-algorithm/519/ edit: I've just checked on the keywords I'm using and the 2nd top has a postcode that is further away so the proximity does not rank that high. Go to Google Maps and type in Aberdeen - i get Union Street as the 'heart' of Aberdeen which is a AB11 address.
Then type in 'web design aberdeen' into Google and you will see that the websites that are listed high to low are relevant to their position from Union Street. |

well this is clearly not the case for example
the keywords aberdeen computer repair (remember UK google) C is further away from the centre that quite a few. Zoom in and you'll see how close E is to A. What gives? I can only guess that becuase A is also top of yahoo local they are getting top here. Last edited by goldmercury : July 8th, 2008 at 03:36 PM. |
