    link checking

    Morning all,

Couple of questions for y'all. I am looking into what my competitors are doing in a bit more detail. There are a couple of sites which rank really highly for my target phrases - but it isn't the homepage which comes up, it is one of their internal pages. My first question therefore is:

    1) Is it possible to do a search to see how many BLs a site has to a specific page within that site. I assume it will have to be done within Yahoo cos the G link search doesn't give the full picture.

My main site is an independent ski holiday company. Some of my competitors have dynamically driven sites, with loads of resorts, hundreds of properties and consequently 1000's of pages which all have good internal linking. My second question is:

    2) Will I ever be able to compete re: the internal links of a massive site with 1000s of pages. Does G count each link individually, or does is work out thaat they are all from the same site and scale down the importance accordingly. Having 1000s of pages wouldn't work with my site - it would make it look ridiculous and spammy. I have approx 60-70 pages on my site, but they are all relevant and full of good content (I hope).

    Finally, my third question is:

    3) Is it possible to check the real external BLs for a site, by excluding all the internal links from the same domain.

Hope the above makes sense - looking forward to hearing what you have got to tell me!

    I thank you,

    Don't know about Q2, but on 1 and 3:

    Try - on Yahoo:

    or, more to the point:

Don't forget to include the http:// bit, otherwise the link: command doesn't work on Yahoo.

I would try a couple other methods too-

    Try searches at GG for:

"title of site" + "primary keyword phrase"

The problem with searching at Yahoo is that they index pages much more slowly and often don't see as many paegs as Google - in fact, I believe that if Yahoo's index was as big and their spiders were as fast as Google's, they would be the superior engine - get to work Yahoo!
