KEYWORDS in file name
What a debate!!
What are your thoughts on putting the keywords you want to be competitive for in your file names? I have 100+ files with unique content on each page. How many of these files should contain the keyword? I don't want to do it toooo much, but does anyone have a number? Ex: Keyword: Mercedes Benz (not the actual keyword) How many file names should have "mercedes-benz" in it? ex: domain.com/mercedes-benz-info.html |

I name my folders after the main KW.... as thus...
/mercedes-benz/tires.html /mercedes-benz/manual.html /mercedes-benz/gallery.html I have hundreds of files in some of these theme folders. Gets the KW in the URL and maybe (who knows) it makes it look like I have dedication to "Mercedes Benz" as a theme rather than just stuffing it in every file name.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply. I tend to agree with you as well. Anyone have arguments for the other way??

I was reading an article the other day which suggested that you should try to optimise your whole site for few words, as you end up with your own pages competing with each other. the article went on to say you were better to optimise maybe each page for a particluar phrase, eg, title, page name, meta tags, and then make sure that page content was well optimised also.
made sence to me, Lynny |
