    Keywords Appearing On Site

    hi

using Firefox, if I google the word 'productions' it reports 383M results - and Nexus Productions comes in at the top.

Do a 'view source' on their site and I cannot see any keywords. The word 'productions' occurs over 30 times in the source, but only 3 or 4 on its own! its mostly as 'nexusproductions'

How have they got to the very top! I thought you need keywords for a start?

Any helpers on this would be much appreciated!

    thanks

    interesting

It is of interest to me that there have been no replies to my initial query - Really no one has anything to say about this, make me grow in suspicion with the whole subject of SEO!!!!

    disappointed.

I don't understand what your reply means Ranauk, or what it refers too.

It is amazing to me the lack of replies to my original question, I am now at high levels of suspicision that there are as many opinions about so called 'best practice' as there are people who have them.

One person says don't do this, the bots hate it - google will black-list you - another swears by the same practice as giving high ranking results.

SEO chat forums has, so far, been a spectacular disappointment.

and has left me more confused than when I started.

Do you mean "Meta Keywords"? Google ignores them!

What you need is backlinks which use your targetted keyword (productions in this case) backed up by a website which is "on-topic". You don't actually need the keyword to exist on your website.

The clearest example of this was Dell - who ranked #1 for "computers" for years, without the word appearing on their website.

Perhaps if you'd posted your question in the "Google Optimisation" Forums instead of the "HTML" one, you might have got more replies.... I'll move it for you now - and give it a more meaningful title - perhaps that will help
