Keyword stuffing?
We got hit by the penguin update, our "SEO" strategy was to add new content to our products each week.
We then had a guy that posted these onto article directory's linked to our pages. We aslo have several blogs that are linked to us that kind of deal with our niche.
Now we still rank well but we lost rankings, should I go through our descriptions and check for keyword stuffing, should i delete links off the blogs that don't 100% relate to us or should I delete the article links?
Basically lost in the sauce on what we did wrong.

Check the status of the work done by the guy in the past, may be it possible that he had repeatedly submit the same content in different sites that may led to spamming, thats why you lost your ranking.

Stop generating links via article directories. Post your articles on your website, write less, but write higher quality ones, and start engaging your target market via social media to raise awareness about your contributions.

You may have been hit slightly... If you now contact Google requesting reconsideration... you just might call attention to other things within your site for additional negative attention by a real person. You might reconsider filing a Google reconsideration request. You just might be inviting a rabid pit bull into your living room.
