    Keyword selection

so i am building links for my site and i was wondering, is it better to create one link anchor text, for example: "keyword1 keyword2" or

two separate keywords with separate anchor text, for example: "keyword 1" and "keyword 2"?

    please suggest

    thank you

A little more information about the actual keywords would've been useful (otherwise we could be making some pretty silly suggestions)!

However... whether you create anchor texts which incorporate one or both keywords is up to you, but you must vary your anchor texts.

If you use only one phrase (or even only two) you will be:
    a) Reducing the number of serps you could be competing for.
    b) At risk of showing Google that none of your incoming links are natural.

As an example - if I were submitting to 1,000 directories, I would use at least 5 different anchors... probably 10.

    Search Engine Optimization for Keywords

In most cases, you should use a keyword phrase, instead of a single keyword, for your anchor text, unless you are optimizing for the single keyword. Single keywords are extremely competitive and ofteh when people search for those words, they are not clear about what they want. They often narrow down the searches with more specific keywords. Say if someone is looking for a realtor, it is very unlikely the person will be searching for just "realtor". The search will be tagged with a location keyword at the same time.

So, I'd say optimize for keyword phrases in your anchor texts.

It's better to use different variations of your keywords.
