    Keyword in Domain Name

I am wanting to register a keyword domain for Acme Widgets.
People are unlikely to search for Acme Widgets, so which would capture more searches?

    AcmeBlueWidget.com
    or
    AcmeBlueWidgetMaker.com

Would a search for "Blue Widget Maker" (880 mo.) capture the searches for "Blue Widget"
or would "Blue Widget" (5100 mo.) capture the searches for "Blue Widget Maker"?

Keyword(s) in domain major advantages are really a thing of the past.

What counts is the matchup between your content and backlink profile with the various keywords you wish to focus upon within the SERPs. In the end, if you dominate your competitors for any given keyword with best in class backlink profile anchored by superior content... keyword(s) in your domain may help a little.

Edit: EMD helps quite a bit dependent upon the keyword. For example, sex.com is a website. Do a search for "sex" then try to find that exact match domain to keyword url (sex.com) in the first N pages of the SERPs.

    • EGOL → agrees: They are only especially helpful for exact match keywords. That's all. And, you can still be beaten soundly with exact match.

Each phrase is different, it really depends on what and how you want to use it.

Be careful of EMD penalty google is imposing nowadays. Few of my websites seem to have been hit by the same. One of them was 12 years old authority site in its niche.

This is nonsense, there is no "EMD penatly," please don's spread misinformation. Google has simply removed the unfair advantage that EMD (exact match domain) sites had in the past. This update happened last September. Your sites have dropped because they are of low quality, not because they are EMDs. Having an EMD will never hurt you by itself, though it possibly won't help either.

    The correct information is here:

am sorry but yes you are right "EMD Penalty" is not the right word. But what is still true is that the adjustment in the google algo for EMDs made various good quality websites also disappear. Its not only the poor content or bad backlink profile sites that are hit by it.

This is highly subjective. What might be "good quality websites" to you may be utterly poor websites from someone elses viewpoint. Google was the decisionmaker, not you or I.
