Since keyword density is a completely bogus, fantasy metric that isn't used by any of the major search engines to determine ranking, my guess is that the best kw density tool is the one that's broken...

Funny Rand, but for those wanting the best tool, it is Ranks.nl: http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html

I realize it is bogus on a per page density basis, but is it really bogus on a site density basis? I thought if you want a themed site or to become an 'authority' site, that keyword density makes a huge difference (as well as relevent links...)...are you saying that is not true?

If your website is in english, the best keyword density tool is an adequate command of the english language.

If you know how to write properly in english then you have all the keyword density knowledge you need.

Of course if you don't, then a couple of english classes would properly help you out a lot.

I understand what you're trying to say and agree with you, but you have to admit that if you want the keyword density to be higher for a page, you can write a bunch of copy, check the keyword density, then determine if you should write some more VALUEABLE RELEVANT content that happens to have some more keywords scattered within it.

The only issue is that you don't want to measure the strength of a kw's influence on a particular page with kw density - it's a false metric and one that can mislead you.

I write my content naturally with predetermined keywords. I will admit I sometimes run a page through a density check, but not to determine competitiveness or acceptability. I find that for 2-3 word phrases that we place in the top 5 positions with densities anywhere from 1.5% to close to 15%. The days of carefully controlling KW density are long gone. Focus your time and worries on good content and backlinks. If you write good copy you can let KW densities take care of themselves.
