I promise that they won't help you, and I guarentee that Google will raise a red flag next to your site for future reference. Already, they associate your site with unusualy behavior..
Finally, Google openly states that paying for links is no-no. This raises red flags and gives them great reason to look for other potential reasons to manually visit and ban your site. Avoid this!
You are not wrong BUT at the same time the accuracy of right (or left) of center.
Purchasing links isn't wrong, bad, or a no-no (neither is selling or giving away for some stock of another form). It's merely a perversion of Google's link philosophy... removing the ability to detect - removes the unnatural manipulation intent (is Google's automatic eyes).
Linking strategies is "a game" - without manipulation Google's does not know what they are vulnerable to, once shown, they patch, once patched, "we" find another and the game continues.

Changes the pattern you change the outcome.
Exactly... That what makes SEO such hard work and such fun. The challange, the effort, the reward. But sit on your backisde and hope the reward will flow in for ever... Unlikely.
I have so much repspect for the professional SEO just doing my own 2 sites is so time consuming. But I love it! I love the 'game' i love to win! The rewards are great. MY site is now genrating a very good and growing income. the better I play the better the reward.

I don't recall who said it but it is absolutely true: [paraphrasing]... "when you think you have it all figured out... that's when you guarantee your own extinction".

Huh? I don't think that you will get those 14,000 in one shot. It takes time for Google to index the site again and probably much less than 14,000 links will come in a space of a few weeks, seeing that this is a PR5 site.

^^ I know.. the other sites that also have bought those 14,000 links only have like 20-30 links in the link: command at google... but Google will still know of all the links dont you think?
A new question... Have anyone at this board ever been obviously punished by Google for too many links at once, or is all these warnings only thoughts and beleves?
Because once again, the other sites that have bought links doesnt seems like they have been suffering from it...
I just got a lil bit scared off all the posts in this thread about how badly I most likely screwed up with that purchase, so I cancelled it..

misterdh, your going to get some good advice from people here, but dont you think you need to read up on everything regarding links?
Is is one of the most important aspects of SEO and not knowing what you are doing is stupid.

Not a problem... Like Marco said, do some alternative in-depth reading/study on backlinks, BUT the primary thing is that site-wides are fake and almost a total waste of money. Even if free... there is not much value to them and possibly could even have a negative effect.

if they did give a refund, Then they might be doing a honest business,
Try contacting them and ask them for natural placement of your link in their index page alone ., (if your site is related)
That will surely help
Natural placement in the sense,
Without any use of words like " Sponsor" "partner",

Normally a link added to an include file like a footer, sidebar, or header that is then available on every page of the web site where that footer, sidebar, or header is used.
Google especially, views these as manipulative links.
If the link is a worthy contribution (rationalized) the "links are for my visitors"... obviously then to view they must be a visitor so a search user is unimportant as they are not a visitor.

Simple definition: Mulltiple/Most pages from one site providing a link out to the same page of another site. In most cases all those "site-wide" links will be counted as one link by Google (or maybe even less).
