Joomla site - Google Analytics Problem
Hi,
I am doing seo for a Joomla site since 1 year, my site's PR is 5 now & for other pages its between 3-5.I am using google analytics (GA) for my site analysis. After a 1 year I found that GA is not showing me any results for site overlay option. As per my knowledge it shows how many visitors click on a particular link/button/ or menu in a percentage, am I right?
Then why its not showing on my site? Is it related to technology (i.e. Joomla/PHP)

hi...
Hi new_seo,
1. You are right but this site is not created in html, its in Joomla/PHP so there is no need to insert GA code each & every page its just inserted in index.php file of the main template.
2. Normally its not showing with the main i.e. home page & the page rank is 5 & it is indexed in Google & at the 1st rank for some keywords also.

I took a look at your website Frank..and the first reason that I can think of is some interference with JavaScript.
Google analytics and particularly the Site Overlay function is largely dependent on JS and I noticed that there are tons of other JS which might be interfering with GA Site overlay. As you can understand this is more of an intelligent guess work based on my prior experiences and not really something proven at the moment.
In addition,
a) are you accessing GA through Adwords or directly at Google.com/analytics ? It has been reported earlier where it doesn't work when approached through Adwords but works otherwise.
b) Have you created any GA filters to merge data ? If a filter is in place that might prevent the site overlay to work.
c) Check the default page that you have set up in GA. if the default page that you have set up there does a redirect to any other page site overlay would not work
d) Also please try viewing in different browsers after clearing cache and cookies and see if any of them works . Try in Firefox, after going to to Tools > Options > Privacy and check "accept third party cookies"
Try these options and if it still doesn't work please come back and post a detailed response so we can investigate further

Overlay is still beta right? Especially for a dynamic heavy-javascript site is it hard to figure out the position of some links. Also the overlay mode is far from usefull sometimes:
Lets say you have two links on your website index, both linking to the same content deeper in your website. The first link is a 21px bolded link just under the header of the index content. 100% of the people who visit your deeper content will click this link. Now in your footer you will have another link, but its 12px and nobody ever clicks on it. Now if you open overlay mode, both links will seem to share an equal percentage of clicks. Due to trying to visualize link clicks, you obfuscated reality.
There is a way to figure out how many people clicked on what links, without a visual and confusing helper. You can check this manually and with far greater precision, than overlay mode ever can.
