The Google-dance.com alert has even been sent out.
Yes, I saw it go back to the old number for about 10 minutes, but now I'm seeing 384,000 again!!!
Arrgh! So that would explain something. Yesterday I did a link popularity check using a tool I have and I had 4 external links listed with Google and 36 with AllTheWeb. I've been aggressively working my industries websites to get listings and now have 72 with AllTheWeb but only 2 with Google. I was hoping the May dance would be towards the end of the month to get these sites indexed. Oh, well, next time...
Don't know what's up, but one of my pages has 2950 links on the regular servers, but only 144 on www-sj. And the 144 links are all from a single site.
It would seem that the index on www-sj is based on a small subset of the web. Probably just testing.
in that case - i lost backlinks again this month. what is going on!
i had 78, then went down to 36 now down to 34?
Don't stress yet Rusy. Seriously, there's no way the www-sj is a complete index. They're running a test with a subset of the database. Probably testing with the full data would take too long.
There's no other way to explain the results I'm seeing.
I would have to agree with that. They are just testing and I believe this is in no way close to the final results of the upcoming update.
My site made its first appearance after the April 10 dance, then I quickly changed a number of features, including the layout of the home page, before the next crawl. FWIW, the cache that the google-sj is showing is the same one that appeared first, so there is no updated information on this listing.
Are the changes to www-sj just a test, or is this a preview of how the dance will go? I hope it is a test becuase all my top ranked sites have dropped 3 to 12 positions, and I have done some great optimization for this month. Another thing I noticed on www-sj is that one of my websites increased in link popularity, but decreased in page rank value.
Ussually, once one server starts to dance alone its a sign that the dance is ready to happen, almost like a rehersal. I've also noticed that the results from that one server is a general idea on where you will land when the dance ( more like musical chairs) ends.
