    Angry Issue with google indexing

I do not understand why google is refusing to index some of my pages.

    www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk

Is the domain which is well indexed and performs well in rankings for the search terms i want it to.

However recently I created some new pages @

    Isis pages

There is about five pages which I put in a folder in my root folder.

Because there were flyers going out with www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk/isis going out I named the first page index.html so this would be the landing page when people typed in http://www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk/isis

Is it possible that this is the reason that these pages have not been indexed yet is that there is more than one Index.html on my domain.

Secondly On the links from my other pages I linked to

    http://www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk/isis/

    rather than

    http://www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk/isis/index.html

    Could this make a difference.

I have now changed all the links on the site so they point to

    http://www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk/isis/index.html

but google still refuses to index the page.

Googlebot index my page usually 2 times a day and yet is being a pain on this issue.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
    Jamie

When I clicked on your first URL, it just took me to Microsoft!

When I clicked on your ../isis URL, I got your page directly (the dark red on black is unreadable, though).

You don't need the extra index tag, as far as I can see, and it isn't helping you.

    Try this: http://www.14thc.com/get-indexed-fast.html

Having more than one index won't hurt your site, especially if they are in different directories (folders). But your home page is not coming up and is being redirected to MS so that is probably the problem. If the SEs can't see a home page they have to assume there is something wrong with the site.

(Actually they don't *have to* but I would....)

So fix your home page issues and then use the tips in my link to get the site indexed quickly.

Note: There isnt anything wrong with the homepage. The author submitted a livelink with incorrect target (http://http//www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk) instead of http://www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk ... Aside from that the advice everone provided is a good start.

The site has no problem with indexing - G visits the site at least twice a day - its only these pages which G seems not to like.

Dark red is not that readable but it is the corporate colour of the client I am working with.

    With regards to:
You don't need the extra index tag, as far as I can see, and it isn't helping you.
I don't really understand. If people type in:

    www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk/isis

then surely the browser needs the index.html file to know which page to bring up first for the user?

    Thanks Jamie

you need links to that directory, do a press release. Read
    http://www.14thc.com/get-indexed-fast.html
as earlier suggested it says everything you need to do.
I see nothing wrong with the page itself or the directory that would prevent it from being indexed. Maybe you could cut down on all the meta tags.

i'd hate to sound like a broken record, but aside from on-page optimization, you need to get some links buddy, not alot, but at least some

    hmm

Well I find that making a sitemap.xmp for google makes a great deal of difference in persuading google to at least "register" your pages - ie getting the big -G- to realise that they exist.

I also find that if you put a link to any new pages really high on your well crawled homepage, and off a regular sitemap, that'll help too. High as in high up in the html.

As for their SERPS or PR, that's an entirely different matter.

Just wanted to add that having an index in another directory make no difference at all.

I always find that if you include the full URLs in your Tweets and Facebook updates, Google indexes them pretty quickly.

If not, try using a free ping service.
