Is the <lastmod> data important in google sitemap?
I am editing my sitemap.
I used a sitemap generator before as I was too lazy to do it myself, and I did not want to make a simple mistake. I want to add a page so I was just going to copy and paste the last entry and insert the url. That's when I noticed the <lastmod>2007-02-06</lastmod> Should I be changing this when my pages change? I know g figures it out without this because usually after a few days they are returning the new content in the cached version. I just wonder if this helps them or me much or not. |

It can't hurt and other bots may use it now or in the future. |
