Is google following no follow links also ?

I have seen nofollow backlinks to my site in Webmaster tools. It confuse me also.
But google dont follow them. Then why they show it in the webmaster tools?

You can get traffic but it is good to avoid from the no follow backlinks and try to get the dofollow backlinks, Google prefer only one-way link building so try to utilize only one-way link building so that Google consider your presence...

Generally google follows no follow link but it doesn't pass on any link juice to the linked to site.

That`s true.

The no follow counts for traffic but not for your ranking result.

Avoid No follow links they can provide you traffic but no link juice.

Its better to have less good quality backlinks rather then tons of nofollow links For traffic with good SERPs

I still try to make a point to backlink via Twitter, Facebook, Freind Feed, Mixx etc. They all show up high in my GWT. I realize they are no follow but they are from PR6-9 social networking sites and I think they account for something. I am obviously not saying I do not look for dofollow's. I just believe its important to include the big dog social sites and not shy away from getting links there as well.

No follow also help in search engine rankings. The no follow links can avail or help your website to get white chit or trust from Google crawler. They are equally important as do follow link.

I dont agree with above post, Nofollow doesnt give any advantage on seo. Just for traffic purposes, the page can be spidered, but does not count as a vote for your site.
Comments on this post
Keiros agrees: nofollow links don't pass any "linkjuice" (no ranking help, no PR) but may still help page to be
found and crawled by bots (and visitors)

But google dont follow them. Then why they show it in the webmaster tools?

Finding those links in webmaster tools says nothing about Google following or not following no-follow links.

Google can check the referer of a visitor to your site, without ever following that link.

Google does spider nofollow links, like those on twitter and wikipedia. But like said, does not pass any link energy. I think Google should clear up the nofollow attribute, they shanked a lot of webmasters by changing the implementation.

Nofollowing your shopping cart or calender should never make Google follow it. Now it isnt a good strategy to rely on nofollow alone, but no-index those pages, as competitors could still link to them without nofollow. But that makes nofollow near useless, and even bad to use on internal links, because it adds to the page link total, without spending more energy on dofollow links.

NoFollow and Social Media

Given that so much of social media uses NoFollow (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc) I suspect Google will have to review the monster it has created. If Google truly nofollows all the social media links how does it create its social graph.

A lot of natural linking goes on with the no-follow attribute do you guys really think google completely ignores it? And adds no weight?
