Index rollback?

My entire site(except homepage) went supplemental, and are now showing old cache dates. Previously, all pages were in the regular index with fresh cache dates....is this some sort of google reshuffling/reindexing of my site? Will it sort out in the next few days? I have since dropped 90% of traffic

About 6 weeks ago I totally redesigned my site, organization of content (separated/segemented the content into small, very specific/relevant subjects as I have 2500+ article UNIQUE, NON DUPLICATED pages) directory hierachy and urls.

Most to all of the old redesign/urls, etc..have been removed from google...msn/yahoo still show old cached stuff

I did not put up an 301's, as the changes were so very significant and so individualized, I could not put up a global 301...hope this wasnt a major mistake?

On a side note, msn and yahoo seem to crawl and index the site okay, but zero rankings...google actually paid great attention to the site, e.g. rankings wise

I am thinking probably gonna need 2-3 updates for the "new" site organization/hierachy to sort out in G, Y, M? 6 weeks I don't believe is enough time considering the drastic changes I have made?

I do add a completely new piece of unduplicated content per day to the site...and update my sitemaps with
"google sitemaps"/"yahoo site explorer" daily

As a side note regarding the supplemental index, I do have a good amount of backlinks to my subpages..they are fairly new, but quality links.

Any thoughts?

Why I don't like dealing with old sites that are ranking relatively well.

Yes, imho, you process was a mistake.

I would have implemented change over in stages, with each stage incorporating 301 redirects of old pages to the most relevant new page.

Let the change be absorbed and settled and moved to the next step. Only had the site completely crashed would I have done a full dump.

Major changes mean major calculations in factors for site. From indexing to lost pages to site based and external. Best to minimize affect by limiting to sections.

Yes you are going to need time. Both for site and for new link aging.
