Index page beating optimised page of my site

Hi,

can anyone offer an explination as to why my index page is appearing higher in the search results than another page i have well optimised.

For the search term "autolocksmiths in london" I have optimised the following page http://www.theautolocksmith.co.uk/Auto-locksmiths-in-London.html

For some reason this page is not appearing in the top 100 listings, however my home page is appearing 6th.

Whilst I am aware the page in question in light on content it has backlinks with key text pointing to it and has also been well optimised with meta info.

Any ideas what is going on here??

In my opinion, the homepage is treated as the most important page on the site, and is given priority over other pages.

Thanks for reply, would it make more sense to start optimizing the homepage for these search terms then or would this just compete against the other page?

You should always optimize the homepage, period.

You should definitely optimize it for your most important keywords.

When we start SEO for any site our first motive becomes:
Optimize All the pages well
Do Directory submission for home page as well as for inner page.
Do link building for home page as well as for inner page.
Submitting site to product directories if it has some products to offer.
and so on.

Now your site has a total of 38 links crawled in Google.
Out of this 38 links your that particular page has just 4 links.
Obviously you have not did more work on that page as compared to your home page. You have worked on your home page with the keyword "auto locksmith" and since you have a .co.uk TLD and there are words like London in your description and may be on page so it is coming in SERPs.

Do more directory submission of that page.
Build link for that page.
Write and submit some articles for that page making your keyword as anchor and linking to that page.
That page will soon be there in SERPs.
