Hi everyone,
Is it true that if I regularly type a search term into google that this will help that search term come up as the top results when searched by someone else?
The search term isn't common.
Appreciate any advice.

You mean if one person does that on his/her own computer every time?
Probably not![]()
If you had lots of people do this from multiple locations on multiple different systems you could influence the number and then potentially get it to come up as a search recommendation. However, if just you did it from one system it would not register as multiple different searches.
This is one of those things that works in theory but not in practice.
Now, if you had an army of infected zombie machines you could make them all carry out the search and then have some real influence over the search volume, however this is very black hat and illegal so I don't recommend you try it.
Thanks for the replies,
So how many people would have to be typing it in on their own computer for it to bring about a result? Would 3 or 4 be enough?

Well, I have to say that this kind of business has been run for a long long time in China.
I suppose, that 3 or 4 are not enough, rather 3-4 thousands or even 30-40k. The best thing is to hire 50 Cent Party
But in general I wouldn't advice to do such things because, as was stated before, it's a black hat.
